LMIA & Work Permit

Canadian government has made certain rules and regulations to authorize foreign workers as well as temporary resisdents in Canada to work by introducing a special document known as work permit. Work permit allows an individual to work for employers around Canada, there are certainly two major categories of work permit:
 
OPEN WORK PERMIT: Under this a person can work for any employer and where ever he likes working in Canada.
EMPLOYER SPECIFIC WORK PERMIT: Under this a person is restricted to specific employer for working in Canada, he cannot change his employer.

POST GRADUATE WORK PERMIT (PGWP)
Whenever an international student graduates from any of the Designated learning institutes in Canada he has opportunity to apply for post graduate work permit with the help of which he can work in Canada. This permit is open work permit, which means work permit holder can work for any employer throughout the Canada until validity of his work permit.
 
TEMPORARY WORK PERMIT for foreign workers/LMIA
Canada focusing on diversity and making global skill sets part of their economy has introduced temporary work permit for foreign workers. For getting TFWP foreign worker has to undergo the process of LMIA.
 
What Is LMIA?
Whenever employer wants foreign worker working for them he has to undergo the process by getting it approved from SERVICE CANADA, this approval is known as LABOUR MARKET IMPACT ASSESSMENT (LMIA). Employer has to meet many requirements to get LMIA approved and once approved then worker has to apply for work permit to IRCC for the same.
 
SPOUSAL WORK PERMIT
Spouses of work permit holders in Canada are eligible for getting work permits approved if their spouse in Canada is working in NOC level O, A, B category of job.
